About the Artist
The artist, Christos Vasdekis, was born in 1947 in a small
village in Makedonia, Northern Greece. His first memories and
images as a child were in the vale of Makedonia. His interest
in painting manifested itself during the first few years of
grammar school. He continued painting, and settled in
Thessaloniki in 1965, where he later set up a workshop and gallery.
At the same time he started working on artistic picture framing.
He is a self-taught painter with many years' experience in
painting landscapes and nature.
Throughout his career he has worked with many materials. He
settled on oils, pencil and primarily watercolour as his
preferred media. The objects of his paintings have been
mainly landscape and portrait, but during the last few years
he has developed his own personal expression, focusing his
interest on affairs concerning society. This speculation
is apparent in his most recent work, which has not yet been
displayed to the general public.
He has participated in many exhibitions and his works can
be found in various private collections around the world.
